Job Description
Reporting to the Enforcement Co-ordinator your main duties will involve providing effective and efficient support to Environmental Enforcement activities in an interventional manner throughout the Borough. To patrol alone or as part of a team both mobile (utilising a variety of vehicles including HGV skip loaders and recovery vehicles or pedal cycles) and on foot carrying out effective litter, rear lane refuse, skips, nuisance vehicles, graffiti and deliberate fire setting reduction activities.
Undertake routine inspections of known locations where illegal dumping, dog fouling or incorrect presentation of waste or deliberate fire setting takes place. Locate items, preserve any evidence for Enforcement Officers and proactively remove offending items.As part of the Public Protection Partnership respond in a considered and appropriate manner to members of the public in distress, monitor and report any incidents or acts which are reasonably suspected of being criminal, anti social, drug related or cause any detriment to quality of life.Provide a link with local communities and partner agencies providing a means of contact and reassurance taking direct intervention to resolve Environmental issues.A crucial element of this post will be close liaison with the Community, Police, Fire, Council Services and a multitude of internal and external partners.To be successful you must possess both a HGV license and a genuine interest in improving the local Environment, be committed to the principle of maintaining and improving the quality of life of residents, good communication and organisational skills, the ability to prioritise workloads and be able to work alone and as part of a team. You must possess enhanced standards of integrity, support for common team objectives.A full HGV driving licence is essential.
